GENERAL EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

Cascadia Renaissance Faire expects event attendees and participants to communicate professionally and constructively, whether in person or virtually. It is expected that handling dissent or disagreement will be approached with courtesy, dignity, and an open mind. Moreover, individuals shall provide respectful feedback and remain open to alternate points of view. The Cascadia Renaissance Faire also expects that any sharing of information about the organization, event, or event attendees via public communication channels be done responsibly, clearly distinguishing personal opinion from fact.

ANTI-HARASSMENT POLICY

Under our anti-harassment policy, Cascadia Renaissance Faire does not tolerate harassment of event attendees, members, or participants in any form, whether in real or virtual spaces at festival events or activities. Harassment includes unwanted advances, physical or verbal assault, stalking, sexual harassment, unwanted physical contact, inappropriate photography or filming, derogatory comments, hate speech, and the use of hate symbols. The definition of harassment is determined by the victim. If it is observed or reported that an individual or group has harassed another attendee, Cascadia Renaissance Faire will take appropriate action, which may include:

- Issuing a warning to cease and desist

- Expulsion from the event without a refund

- Banning from future Cascadia Renaissance Faire events and activities.

For your own safety, if you feel you are being harassed, please report your concerns to event public safety staff immediately. If you cannot find staff or volunteers to assist you, visit the information booth located near the event entrance. It is important to report issues before taking matters into your own hands, such as confronting the aggressor or posting on social media.

SMOKING & VAPING POLICY

Smoking and vaping are allowed only in designated areas. Please observe posted signs indicating appropriate locations for smoking and vaping, and do not drop cigarette butts on the ground, as they are harmful to the environment and pose a fire hazard.

DRUG POLICY

In accordance with Washington state law, private marijuana use is protected, but consumption in public view is prohibited. Additionally, non-cannabis and non-prescription illicit drugs are forbidden and not allowed at Cascadia Renaissance Faire.

ALCOHOL POLICY

Alcohol is served and permitted only in designated Taverns during festival hours and for limited times during official evening activities on Friday and Saturday. Alcohol consumption is restricted to inside the fenced Taverns.

Attendees must be 21 years or older and carry a valid government-issued photo ID while in the Taverns. No outside alcohol may be brought in or consumed within the Taverns or on site. We uphold a ZERO tolerance policy for underage drinking. Any minor caught drinking will be escorted to their guardian and asked to leave the site. Adults serving alcohol to minors will be reported to the authorities and asked to leave. To ensure a safe experience for everyone, alcohol consumption is closely monitored, and individuals exhibiting signs of over-intoxication will be cut off and may be removed from the Taverns. Cascadia Renaissance Faire reserves the right to ban any individual deemed a danger to themselves or others.

WEAPONS POLICY

Cascadia Renaissance Faire recognizes that historical reenactment and cosplay are integral to the festival experience, and we strive to ensure safety and enjoyment for all. Individuals violating this weapons policy may be asked to leave without a refund or permanently banned from the event. *NOTE: Foam weapons intended for boffing may only be used in designated zones during open boffing times.

PERIOD ARMS

Period arms include weapons relevant to the time period portrayed while in costume, such as swords, daggers, whips, and pikes. All arms must be secured or 'peace tied' to the guest and may not be removed from the holster. Any exposed blade must be safe for stage combat and pose no risk of injury to guests or others. Arrows carried as costume adornment must be peace tied together, with tips removed. Plastic, foam, and wooden toy weapons are allowed without sheaths or peace bonding but must not be wielded in a manner that could accidentally strike someone. Public safety personnel are available at the front gate for assistance with securing weapons. Unsafe weapons must be removed from the festival or secured in a vehicle.

BLACK POWDER GUNS

Many guests wish to use replica and black powder guns as costume adornments. These firearms must be inoperable unless they belong to official designated performers who adhere to performance safety protocols. All black powder guns must be peace tied and not detached from their holster or belt while at Cascadia Renaissance Faire. Prohibited features include:

- No capability of propelling projectiles

- No percussion caps or flint stones

- The powder pan or barrel must be plugged

- No possession of projectiles or black powder.

CONCEALED FIREARMS

The presence of concealed weapons or firearms is strictly prohibited on our property.

OTHER COSPLAY GUNS/WEAPONS

Other cosplay prop weapons are allowed at Cascadia Renaissance Faire as long as they do not fall under the prohibited items list. Please refer to the beginning of the weapons policy for the boffing rule.

PROHIBITED ITEMS:

- Explosives

- Functional firearms or projectile weapons of any kind, including real guns, paintball, airsoft, bb guns, cap guns, or any device that launches a real projectile or creates an explosion.

- Hyper-realistic firearms that could be mistaken for real guns.

PERFORMER WEAPONS SAFETY PROTOCOLS

All designated event firearm and weapon demonstrators, entertainers, and performers must comply with all event weapons policies when not actively performing. This includes securing weapons, ammunition, and black powder in safe locked areas and ensuring the public cannot easily access them. Using weapons while intoxicated or under the influence of substances that impair safety is strictly forbidden, and safety inspections by public safety event staff are mandatory. Liability insurance of no less than $2,000,000 is required.

COSPLAY & COSTUMING POLICY

Cascadia Renaissance Faire encourages creative expression free from judgment or harassment. We celebrate body positivity, recognizing that cosplay and costuming should be inclusive for everyBODY. As a Celtic Renaissance Fantasy Scottish Highland festival, we do not enforce strict historical accuracy or quality standards for costumes. While historical costumes are welcome, representations of historical atrocities, such as Nazi paraphernalia, are never appropriate. Reenactment of historical injustices related to the oppression of any group is explicitly prohibited. Full nudity is not allowed, and all individuals must cover their nipples and genitals regardless of gender identity or expression. Costumes featuring hate symbols are banned, and hyper-realistic uniforms must clearly indicate they are costumes to avoid confusion with law enforcement or military attire. Prop weapons accompanying costumes should comply with our weapons policy.

FOOD & BEVERAGES

A variety of fresh, delicious food is available for guests at our concession stands throughout the festival, but we understand the need for outside food and drinks. Please follow these guidelines:

Acceptable items:

1. Water bottles (any size), with free refills available.

2. Food required for medical purposes and indicated dietary needs.

3. Baby food or formula.

Prohibited items:

1. Food requiring heating or refrigeration.

2. Alcohol and glass containers (except baby food jars).

BAGS

Carry-in bags, baskets, and backpacks are permitted, and there is no requirement for clear bags. However, be aware that all bags are subject to search by our security team upon entering the event.

MEDIA CAPTURE AND ATTRIBUTION

Cascadia Renaissance Faire retains exclusive rights to record, stream, and host all content related to our events, whether occurring in person or virtually.

VIDEO AND PHOTO CONSENT

By registering, attending, or participating in any activity at the Cascadia Renaissance Faire, you agree to allow us to use and distribute images, names, or voices in recordings, photographs, videos, websites, social media, and print or digital publications.
